Sunday 20th November
Daz put forward this suggestion:
Gday!
The weather is too good to waste! How about a ride on Sunday 20th november around the tablelands? We could leave the BP at Mareeba about 10.30 am, head over to the lookout at Milla Milla via Malanda, then either down the Palmerston, maybe take South Johnston bypass of Innisfail stop at Mena Ck pub for a beer or quick bite. Then back up highway, with a quick left option at gordonvale to rejoin at Mountview hotel, then partake in the mighty gillies. Course I am open to other options - except for being a pillion....
Well, thats the plan! My phone number is 0424977799, if you would like to join me, just feel free to ring to co-ordinate any meet ups - last minute is fine! I haven't been for a ride for 2 months, so if you are late at the BP you will be inspecting my fat arse disappearing up the road...

Two things on this weekend....The Mena Creek Bike show which some are leaning towards and also the Kuranda bike show which promises to be pretty good as well. Paul Naylor has suggested a brekky at Lake Eacham roadhouse and a run down the Palmerston Hwy to Mena Ck but he hasn't set a time. Give him a ring to get details otherwise its:
Kuranda Bike Expo. Sounds like its gunna be a good one. All of us riders up here in FNQ should support shows like this to make sure they keep happening. Its been suggested that some of us FRATS might like to go for a ride in the morning and finish up in Kuranda in time for the Village to Venue ride
Check out the poster and note the Village to Venue ride at 1:00 pm before the official opening at 2:00pm.
Friday 22nd July 2011. DONE
(Public holiday for SHOW DAY Friday 22nd July. Low key spin across the tableands. Meeting at Coffee Works at Mareeba at 1000 on Friday and head south somewhere across the Tablelands....) Too Late... Jason, Nick and Darren did a run along Chewko Road from Mareeba and eventually ended up in Ravenshoe for a tasty pie at the bakery before an ale or 2 at the Lake Eacham Hotel in Yungaburra. Home via the Gillies for Nick and a trundle back to Kairi and Mareeba for Darren and Jason respectively

(Nothing else to do?? How about an End of Month Spin. Meet up with Nick at Mountain View Hotel at 10:00 and search for a pub with a fire on the Tablelands for Lunch....) Kev, Paul "Nails" Naylor, and Nick met up at the Mountain View and hoiked it up the Gillies to meet the rest at Yungaburra Pub. The rest was Liz on her MkIII, Len Quinn on his Griso, and Max on his Triumph Sprint We were also joined by yet another Liz on a Ducati Classic Sport and her partner Mike on a Darmah. We took some interesting roads following Mike until it inexplicably stopped (?? timing belt?). Minor hiccup as his home was not too far to get a trailer and Liz was able to rejoin us at Tumoulin for the steam train celebrations there. We just missed the train as it left for Ravenshoe and while waiting for its return we had a feed and had a gander at some pretty flash vintage machines and hotted up muscle cars that were on display. Beautiful sunny weather but a bit chilly in the shade...perfect... The train took too long to return so we all trundled off to Ravenshoe (just before the train returned of course) for a couple of drinks before spearing off home via all points on the compass...A very pleasant afternoon with lots of laughs and some great roads....Why would you live anywhere else??

(Australian Italian Festival Ingham (where you get to parade around on yer bike and put it on display for oggling) see post on Home page and contact CD Smith for more info...) Apparently a very successful day but with little participation from the Cairns area (I think). CD sent around some pics of the event to all the Frats so I won't re-post them here. If you didn't see them and you have a hankering leave a comment below and I'll send em on. (Nick does intend to create a page for past events with pics an all when he finds the time...)
Saturday 13th August 2011 DONE
Kev and Karen of "Guzzi Overland" fame are arriving in Cairns this Friday. http://www.guzzioverland.co.uk/ (check their website if you haven't already)
Was trying to tee up an opportunity or two for people to get to meet them and have a perv at their very unusual machine. Kev Dunshea has kindly offered to host a bit of a BBQ at his place in Gordonvale on Saturday night from about 6pm on. It won't be a big "all-nighter drink through" as Kev has to work early the next morning but it might suit bods from the tablelands who want to nip down the Gillies for the evening. Was thinking about a run on the Sunday with Kev and Karen, maybe along the coast to Port Douglas with opportunities to meet up at Ellis Beach or in Port Douglas... I'll discuss this with them and let everyone know by email and sms.
Sunday 21st August 2011 DONE
Guzzis Are GO! Meet at the BP servo at Gordonvale (at the Gillies intersection) at 0900 for a 0915 start....Its been far too long... Jason Douglas organised one of these before in 2008 and it was generally well received. Check out his post on the home page for more detail and pictures from the last one.
